Form and Preparation of Manuscripts
Sophia Austral accepts contributions that may be included in the following sections:
Take particular note of the following information. It is a condition of exclusion for the works sent to comply with all the requirements indicated below.
ARTICLES: Original and unpublished contributions resulting from scientific research on issues of Education, Social Work and Heritage Studies. The article requires a defined methodology and a clear explanation of its development and conclusions. Maximum length: 60,000 characters with spaces, including summary/abstract, footnotes, figures, graphics, tables and the bibliography at the end of the text.
REVIEWS: presentation and comments of recently published books (preferably, in the last two years). Maximum length: 3 pages. At the beginning of the same, the reviewer will record as a title the complete data of the work, including page numbers and ISBN. Example:
Imágenes pese a todo. Memoria visual del Holocausto. Georges Didi-Huberman. Paidós. Barcelona, 2004, 268 pages. ISBN: 978-84-493-1653-1.
At the end of the document, the data of the reviewer (name and institution) must be recorded. Maximum extension: 5 pages.
General Specifications
The text should be written in Spanish, with a title in Spanish and English, it should include a summary (of approximately 150 words) and a list of three to five key words. Next, the English translation of both the abstract and the keywords must be presented included. Note: Do not include in the article the information requested below.
In a separate document, the following data must be sent: Name, institutional affiliation, city, Country, e-mail and ORCID identifier (In case you do not have an ID, please go to: https://orcid.org/register).
If there is more than one affiliation per author, only the main one should be indicated.
If the contribution is part of a research project, its name and assigned number must be mentioned.
The authorship of the work must accurately reflect the degree of contribution of those who actually participated in the research. Those who have contributed tangentially or collaborated in purely technical aspects may be mentioned in an acknowledgement section, in a footnote (See section "Guide to good practice/authors").
Format
- Paper size: letter size.
- Margins: 2.5 cm on both sides.
- Line spacing: 1.5.
- Font type: Times New Roman, 12.
-Summary and abstract: Times New Roman, 11.
Quotes in the text
The editorial guidelines of the Publications Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA 7° ed.) should be followed as indicated below:
When the author is cited, the surname, year of publication and page number should be indicated in parentheses. Example: (De Beauvoir, 1983, page 67).
When quotes have less than 40 words, they are incorporated into the text in quotation marks.
Example:
In relation to old age, De Beauvoir (1983) states that: "Man never lives in a state of nature; in his old age, as in any age, his condition is imposed on him by the society to which he belongs "(page 67).
Quotations that have more than 40 words are written in a new paragraph, with indentation, a font size a minor point (size 11), and without quotation marks. Example:
De Beauvoir (1983) expresses a definition that marks the weight of the concept of old age as an inescapable reference to the modification of the relation of the subject with time:
[....] Like all human situations, it has an existential dimension: it modifies the relationship of the individual with time, therefore with his world and his own history. On the other hand, man never lives in a state of nature; in his old age, as in any age, his condition is imposed on him by the society to which he belongs. (p.67)
References
The list of references should follow the APA 7º edition Publications Manual standards and include only the sources used. Examples:

Articles or Books with DOI:
DOI (Digital Object Indetifier) is the code assigned to articles that enter online databases to become reference articles. This code allows the location of the article effectively and without the need to go to the URL. Therefore, when the DOI is found in any of the references, the URL is no longer copied to it.

Other specifications
Words in foreign languages, neologisms, words not accepted in the Royal Academy of the Spanish Language (RAE) and scientific names must be in cursive letter or italics, without quotation marks.
In the case of dates, the calendrical years must go without a period (eg 1999, 2002, etc.) and chronologies with a period in the thousand (eg, 10,450 years BP, 1,500 BC, etc.).
The figures, (images, maps, sheet and other considerations in this category ) Graphs and Tables, must have a heading and will be numbered in correlative order with Arabic numbers, indicating the source or authorship; and identified, respectively, as Figure 1, Figure 2...; Graphs 1,Graphs 2...; Table 1, Table 2....
Also, each Figure, Graph and Table, must be included and referenced in the body of the text. Each of these elements must be of good quality, indicating the source, authorship and year. Within the manuscript, figures (images) should be in low resolution, to facilitate access to the OJS platform.
Tables must be elaborated and inserted in word processor format (Word, Pages, Writer or similar), according to the format included in the following example:

Figures and Graphics must be submitted in JPG, TIFF or PNG format, as a separate file from the manuscript, and will be uploaded to Sophia Austral's web platform.
The quality of images must be greater than 300 PPP, which will be received in standard JPG, TIFF or PNG format.
Sending Manuscripts
The contributions can be sent by the authors throughout the year to the portal: http://sophiaaustral.cl/index.php/shopiaaustral/index. On the platform, each author or co-author must create a user account and follow the instructions for sending articles and follow-up online.
