Abstract
This research proposes an approach from constructivism to the phenomenon of second-tier observer as an obstacle to social intervention, particularly in the case of professionals working with young offenders in Chile. To this end, the study uses different epistemological concepts to analyze problems in the relationship between professional and adolescent, besides recognizing the socio-cultural components present in the personal construction of the professional, in order to generate a reflection on the difficulties of the intervention process in young people serving sentences under the law of adolescent criminal responsibility.
