Scope and Editorial Policy

History of the Journal

Sophia Austral is a journal of the Faculty of Education and Social Sciences of the University of Magallanes, initially of printed format and of annual appearance. Since 2014, it begins its biannual publication and in electronic format, with the aim of facilitating the sending of manuscripts by the collaborators and intensifying their dissemination, making it easily accessible to the Chilean and foreign intellectual community. 

Focus and scope

The editorial line refers to topics related to Education, Social Work and Heritage Studies, with particular interest in geographical areas that share problems and concerns of border areas.

The journal publishes original and unpublished works resulting from scientific research in the form of articles. Reviews are also published. Manuscripts are received in Spanish and are evaluated by at least two external pairs using the double-blind system. 

Contributions may be submitted at any time of the year. As of 2021, the magazine is a continuous publication.

It is an exclusive condition for the sent works to comply with all the requirements indicated in the instructions to the authors.

The journal Sophia Austral is indexed in SciELO, Erihplus and Latindex. It is included in the BIBLAT-CLASE database and is part of the Latin American Journal Network (LatinRev).
