Abstract

The objective of this article is to establish an investigative agenda regarding the research about universities, through a systematic revision of the papers about universitary education in six magazines especialized in history of education. To achieve it, the indexation catalog of Web of Science was revised through the use of boolean operators and some filters, such as the period (not older than 3 years) and education as the investigative area. This revision was started with the research of 990 articles about the topic, and after the application of the filters 40 of them qualified, through the revision of six magazines containing most of the articles about the study of the universities. In the results, the importance of studying in a more advanced level the university from an historical perspective is evidenced, as well as the necessity of rethinking the links between the universitary institutions and the society as a vital space for the purpose of democratizing the knowledge and the regeneration of the political structures, either from inside or outside the liberal democratic system.
