Abstract
In this paper, we seek to share our experience, as mathematics teacher educators, during co-teaching. We are interested in exemplifying the different tensions and challenges associated with working with another teacher educator, as well as the lessons learned during this experience. Using the methodology of self-study and memory work, we identified nodal moments as a whole and individually that emerged from our work during an academic semester. We supported our memories with excerpts from the transcription of a series of audio-recorded meetings during the process of our work together. We noted that some of the tensions of co-teaching were not discussed at the time they occurred and we identified them as silences in analyzing our experiences. We noticed that the more we are aware of our weaknesses or insecurities about our role as teacher educators, the more we learn about our personal and professional identity.
