Abstract
In the last decades, diverse policies aimed at improving initial teacher training (FID) have been designed and implemented in our country. In order to know to what extent these actions have had effect in the teachers currently in service in the Region of Magallanes, this investigation was based on the teachers’ perception on their own initial teaching training, what it has been useful in their professional performance and what deficiencies they identify while they are in-service teachers at schools. The findings show, in general, a high level of satisfaction with the teaching training formation (FID) and younger teachers give a more critical evaluation to the house of studies where they graduated from than those who were graduated from selective institutions who report a positive evaluation on their training processes.
